"Falling Skies" season 5 is close to wrapping up. The last episode titled "Reborn," which will be aired tonight, Aug. 30, will serve as the closure to the show's five-year run, as well as the 2nd Mass' battle against the Espheni to save Earth.

While there's no mention of the story's continuation in some other form such as a spin-off or a film, "Falling Skies" had a good run and all it needs to do is bring everything to a halt in the most intense and remarkable way possible.

It is presumed to do so in the season 5 finale. It is constantly being mentioned that deaths will occur before the 2nd Mass can claim victory over their potent foe, and one of those could be that of Tom who is known for his daring nature and penchant for all things dicey.

The highly-anticipated season 5 finale will be full of action, tension and drama. Spoiler TV says that it won't take long before the 2nd Mass loses some of its members in the war. When it charges into the swarm of hornets, an important character may already be killed.

Also, it is being said that resolutions will be featured in the show. Apart from the culmination of the long-fought battle, the ever complicated love rectangle between Hal, Ben, Maggie and Isabella will finally be settled. Since all loose ends are bound to be tied, the option of a season 6 becomes cloudy.

Blastr says that "Falling Skies" had a lot of potential to be an uber stellar show. The ideas were there, but the site says that the poor execution might have cost the success it was supposed to enjoy. While this purges the possibility of season 6 or some sort of continuation, anything can happen.

The "Falling Skies" season 5 finale "Reborn" airs tonight. Here is the synopsis:

The final standoff brings the Masons, the 2nd Mass and their new allies into the bowels of an iconic American location, wrought with new and unpredictable obstacles. Despite great loss along the way, they must persevere with hopes of once and for all reclaiming Earth and humanity."
