'Empire' season 2 spoilers: Andre breaks down over Rhonda's condition in episode 11

Rhonda and her baby's fate will be revealed in "Empire" season 2B. Empire/FOX

Andre (Trai Byers) will not be able to handle the grief of losing either his wife Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) or their unborn baby when the hit FOX series "Empire" returns for season 2B.

In "Death Will Have His Day," the promo shows Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie's (Taraji P. Henson) eldest child breaking down at the hospital while his family tries to comfort him. Later on, he is seen crying in the nursery he and Rhonda created for their baby. During the fall finale, Rhonda was pushed down the stairs. While the culprit was not seen, many viewers believe it to be Anika (Grace Gealey), who was slowly going crazy with her obsession of Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray).

Some sources posit that Anika only wants her child with Hakeem to be the only heir to the Lyon's Empire. Rhonda has been ecstatic over her pregnancy, frequently telling the other woman that her father-in-law could not wait to see his first grandchild. When Rhonda fell down in the terrible incident, it was not immediately clear whether she survived or not. Based from Andre's expression in the promo, the prognosis is not good, particularly for their baby.

Showrunner Ilene Chaiken told The Hollywood Reporter that the aftermath of the fall would be a big part of the second half of the season. She said that they themselves hope that Rhonda survives, and that she and Andre figure out how to overcome this tragic event in their life.

"Rhonda and Andre figuring out whether this was an accident, a cruel twist of fate, whether it was something that God meant to happen or that somebody did to them for some other nefarious reason is going to be a very big story for us," she said.

Meanwhile, the teaser also shows Hakeem playing right into Camilla's (Naomi Campbell) hands. The youngest Lyon child is letting all the power get into his head after ousting his father from the CEO position. Camilla is telling Hakeem that he should take over the helm of his father's company. He tells her and the board of stockholders that it is his birth right, after pompously jumping on the conference table.

When he gets home, however, Cookie is there holding Lucious' rifle. She asks him why he is doing this to their family. Cookie also screams at him that he threw away their legacy. His brother Jamal (Jussie Smollett) also cautions him that his greed will bring out the worst in him, if he is not careful. Will Camilla really get her revenge on Lucious through his son?

"Empire" will return on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
