The console version of the updated version of "The Elder Scrolls Online" is already live. However, it seems that rebranding the title still did not take away the many problems that faced the PC version.
"The Elder Scrolls Online" was originally launched as a PC MMO in April last year. A couple of server issues and a switch of gameplay design rebranded the title to "Tamriel Unlimited," and after delays in the relaunch, the game is now live on current-gen consoles. Moreover, the new version also did away with the monthly subscription feature, while a one-time payment for access is still included.
According to reports, many fans that went on to log in to "Tamriel Unlimited" using the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions experienced difficulties, if not outright server errors, when attempting to play the game. Thankfully, developer Zenimax Online is closely monitoring the developments, and is already aware of the issue. The developer is also saying that they are working to fix the problems.
According to the latest update for the game, Jason Leavey, community coordinator for "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited" said on the official game forum, "If you have been experiencing login errors, we ask that you please try to log into the console megaservers again. While we are continuing to work on resolving the issue, we have found that the issue has been fixed for some players at this point."
Leavey went on to promise that Zenimax Online is doing everything it can, and thanked the players for their patience, saying, "We will continue to work on this until it's resolved for all players, and we'll provide an update when we can. Thank you again for your patience throughout the night."
Most observers and fans of the genre place this difficulties and concerns as mere "birthing pains," since the MMO genre is, to some extent, a new concept for consoles. Most MMO games are targeted for PC gamers, and online modes for consoles are mostly featured only on shooter, fighting, and open-world exploration titles.
