"Dying Light" has been one of this year's surprising run-away successes, with developer Techland rounding up the release with a host of post-release support and almost six months' worth of free and premium content. However, it seems that the Poland-based company still has something up its sleeves, and fans will have to wait until next month's gamescom event to know more.

In a press release related by gaming and fan site Gematsu, Techland is targeting an August reveal of the changes planned for "Dying Light". According to producer Tymon Smektala, the project is a major effort and will have players see the title in a new light.

"We're really excited to finally be able to show this major project we've been secretly working on since the release of the game," the producer stated. "This is 'Dying Light' from totally new angle, but with everything fans love about the original still at the core."

The statement confirmed the news about the upcoming major release from the company. In June, Techland chief executive Pawel Marchewka hinted that a major development was in progress following the 4.5 million-user mark for the game.

Marchewka told Eurogamer, "We are thinking about maybe something really of bigger scope."

Asked if this was about a new expansion, or even a sequel to the original title, Marchewka said, "Obviously, we're also thinking about how to think about the sequel, what should happen there."

Fans have speculated that the upcoming big reveal will be about a new expansion to the game, and "Dying Light" players will get new in-game gear and items, such as the new dune buggy seen on a video released by the company recently.

"Dying Light" has received numerous free updates and three paid DLC packs, the most recent of which is "The Bozak Horde" DLC released in May.
