A new clip for "Doctor Who" season 9 looks into the closer bond shared by the Time Lord and his companion, Clara. In one scene, the doctor allows Clara to choose where they are off to next. Of course, her choices include "wherever, whenever, anywhere in time and space."

Peter Capaldi, who plays the Time Lord, revealed that in the new season, his character as well as Jenna Coleman's will get to "play around a little bit more," which will ultimately allow the doctor to become a "thrill-seeker" and realize that he is the "luckiest creature in all of time and space."

As for Coleman, no other words expressed her feelings about the changes in "Doctor Who" season 9 than, "It's exciting. It feels like the summer of '69."

However, the new season will not be all about their growing companionship. Most of the excitement is centered on the arrival of "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams for a TARDIS adventure. A trailer released days back shows a glimpse of her character, who has yet to be named.

"I think once you see what she's up to in the show you'll appreciate what a clever idea of Brian Minchin's -- that was [my co-exec] who thought of Maisie for this part," showrunner Steve Moffat said during the Television Critics Association press tour via iSchoolGuide

"We're not throwing her away. We're not just getting star value and doing nothing with it. It's a great part, and she's terrific in it. But, I would say, it will develop in unexpected ways," he said. During the San Diego Comic Con, Moffat said via Deadline that Williams' character will be "surprising."

Meanwhile, the same trailer also showcases the heinous creatures the Time Lord will be facing in the highly-anticipated new season.

"Doctor Who" season 9 will premiere on Sept. 9.
