The Denver Broncos are heading to Super Bowl 50 after a masterful defensive performance in the American Football Conference (AFC) Championship Game last Sunday, and general manager John Elway complimented the defense shown by his team.

"Definitely, in everything they can do, in how they can defend in so many ways," Elway said, according to ESPN

The former Broncos player and two time Super Bowl winner continued, "[Defensive coordinator] Wade [Phillips] had some good defenses when I was playing, but overall with the speed, playmaking, the secondary, our pass rush, our backups come in and do a helluva job whenever they are asked, the way we can change things up, cover people. Yes, it's the best."

Denver's defense against the New England Patriots in Sunday's AFC Championship Game might be the best as Elway said.

The Broncos pressured the offensive machine that leads the Patriots, franchise quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady completed 27-of-56 passes for 310 yards, but was limited to only one touchdown, also getting sacked four times in the game.

ESPN also added in its report that New England's 38-year-old star passer was hit 23 times by the Broncos.

Brady's only touchdown pass came late in the fourth quarter as the Pats were trailing 20–12.

The touchdown narrowed the lead 20–18, but the Broncos did not allow the Patriots to tie the game with a two-point conversion as time expired.

Now, the Broncos will take on the Carolina Panthers at Super Bowl 50, which will be held at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Feb. 7.

Denver will likely have the same defensive strategy against the Panthers, who are also powered by a star quarterback in Cam Newton.

Newton led the Panthers to a 15–1 record in the regular season en route to a National Football Conference championship after they beat the Arizona Cardinals also last Sunday.
