'Dancing with the Stars' 2015 cast news: Karina Smirnoff returns, Scott Disick might join

Ukrainian-American pro dancer Karina Smirnoff is returning to "Dancing with the Stars" season 21 after skipping last year's season to promote her book, "We're Just Not That Into You: Dating Disasters from the Trenches," and also to film "Tango Shalom" with Lainie Kazan.

Although she is already a one-time Mirror Ball Trophy winner and has performed on the "DWTS" stage countless times, she admitted during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that she still feels the jitters especially after a year of not stepping on the show's dance floor.

"I was a little nervous about not dancing on the show at all last season. I was doing it for the last 10 years," the pro dancer said. "I had other things to do in my life, but not going back to the show felt like trying to see if I can walk on my own two feet! I've had obvious moments when I missed it."

According to the abovementioned publication, season 20 winner Val Chmerkovskiy and Witney Carson will be back for "Dancing with the Stars" season 21. The rest of the pro dancers to join the upcoming season will be announced before the week ends.

Meanwhile, in other related news, Scott Disick, father of Kourtney Kardashian's three kids, was reportedly invited to compete in "Dancing with the Stars" season 21. A source told Hollywood Life that the reality star has plans of actually joining for several reasons.

"He really wants to do it because it would allow him to make money, be close to the kids and show the world he isn't such a wild card that he has made himself out to be," the source said. "He wants to show that he actually wants to change his ways and show Kourtney the man she fell in love with."

It remains to be seen if Disick will end up vying for the Mirror Ball trophy this season but since the dance competition failed to have Caitlyn Jenner on board, the source said it reached out to other members of the Kardashian clan.

The full cast list of "Dancing with the Stars" season 21 will be revealed on Sept. 14.
