Conor McGregor next fight news: Potential six-month medical suspension for The Notorious looms

Conor McGregor may have come out big with his 13-second knockout win over Jose Aldo at UFC 194 but the road ahead may face some uncertainties due to possible medical suspensions set forth by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

McGregor hardly received any punishment but his apparent precise punch could be up for debate if there is really anything serious after that devastating blow he landed on Aldo, as reported by MMAFighting.com. With that said, one can just imagine the length of suspension that the former featherweight champion will be facing.

But the list of medical suspensions for the Dec. 12 fight is not limited to McGregor and Aldo alone.

Other fighters who could be facing long-term suspensions also include Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Urijah Faber, and Ronaldo Souza, among others.

Almost all fighters are facing long-term suspensions. In the case of McGregor, unless he is able to get the said X-ray clearance, there is a possibility that he will not be allowed to compete until June 12, 2016.

Rockhold, who scored an impressive win over Weidman, will need to get clearance for his ankle and/or foot. He is barred from any contact until Jan. 3, 2016 and can only compete after Jan. 12.

The sudden development comes a bit of a surprise, particularly for McGregor who hardly spent a great deal of time inside the Octagon.

It remains to be seen how these medical suspensions will hold up, considering most fighters return sooner than the required suspension would need to be served.

McGregor is already prepped and ready to return to the ring by April or June 2016 even before word of these medical suspensions came out, so it will be interesting to see if those plans would be scathed with these medical clearance requirements.

McGregor is still riding high on his triumph over Aldo and a rematch could be in the works. Aside from that, the brash Irishman reportedly has plans to move up to the lightweight class, as reported by Fox Sports.
