The Cleveland Cavaliers is the best team in the Eastern Conference but will only be represented by LeBron James in the upcoming All-Star Game, a surprise to head coach Tyronn Lue who thinks forward Kevin Love should also play in the exhibition.
Despite his name popping in trade rumors, Love is one of the reasons why the Cavs are thriving amidst all the issues they are facing.
Love has played and started in 46 games for Cleveland this season, averaging 16.1 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 32.4 minutes played per contest.
Those numbers are very impressive, and Lue believes that Love's averages along with Cleveland's success this season were enough to earn him a spot in the Eastern Conference All-Stars roster.
"Being No. 1 in the East and Kevin being one of four guys in the NBA to average a double-double on a winning team, I've just never seen being a first-place team and getting one guy in. I've never seen that before," Lue exclaimed before Friday's win over the Detroit Pistons, according to ESPN.
Lue was named the head coach of the Eastern Conference All-Stars after former Cavaliers head coach David Blatt was fired on Jan. 22.
Meanwhile, Love downplayed his non-selection and even complimented the players in their conference.
"I think there's a lot of good players in the East. I've said that all along, especially at the forward position, too, with the starters. I think it's a good team on both sides," Love stated.
Before heading to Cleveland, Love was a superstar playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, with all three of his All-Star selections happening while with the franchise.
Unfortunately, the 27-year-old forward left the Timberwolves via trade in August of 2014 after six seasons of missing the playoffs despite his tremendous efforts.
Last season was Love's first year with the Cavs as he also made his first ever trip to the playoffs, although he was snubbed for the All-Star Game as well.
