'Castle' season 7 spoilers: What's in store for Rick Castle, P.I. in episode 11?

When Castle returns for the rest of season 7 in January, fans should expect to see Richard's big career change.

Previously, Captain Gates (Penny Johnson Jerald) gave Castle (Nathan Fillion) the pink slip when she discovered that he and mob-boss Dino Scarpella became more than acquainted with each other. However, Castle's wife and partner Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) was clueless about this development. Nonetheless, the former mystery writer will not be jobless for long, as he decides to embark on a career as a private investigator, which fans will see in the coming episodes.

In the recent preview released for this season's episode 11 titled "Castle, P.I.," Castle will launch his new profession as a private investigator. This means that he and Beckett will have to battle it all out to find which of them will solve a case first. It would also show how Castle will manage to work on an investigation outside the police department.

"Castle" showrunner David Amann shared a few spoilers in an interview with TVGuide. He said, "Castle's not at the precinct, but he's writing and keeping busy, and Beckett and everybody's kind of acclimated to his absence."

The series showrunner also said that the new episodes beginning January will show Castle's struggle as an investigator, which is something that he is not used to doing without Beckett and the entire police force by his side.

Amann also promised that the next episodes for the remainder of season 7 will be lots of fun, considering the painfully terrible job that Castle will have to go through in his first few cases as a private investigator. Yet he also mentioned that this will not be something permanent, and Castle will find a way back to the police department sometime soon.

After episode 11, the 12th episode will feature a "telenovela-like" offering dubbed as "Private Eye Caramba."

"Castle" season 7 returns on Jan. 12.
