Carolina Panthers injury, roster news 2016: Thomas Davis, Jared Allen likely ready for Super Bowl 50

Two key defensive players for the Super Bowl-bound Carolina Panthers, linebacker Thomas Davis and defensive end Jared Allen, are looking good to play in the biggest game of the National Football League (NFL) this season.

The Panthers are gunning for the franchise's first NFL championship when they collide with the Denver Broncos Sunday at the Levi's Stadium.

To fulfill that goal, they must have all the players that made them the best team in the regular season, finishing with a 15–1 record.

That may happen as Davis and Allen participated in practice last Wednesday, according to ESPN, and are on their way to recovery after suffering injuries in the earlier rounds of the playoffs.

Allen suffered a fractured foot in the Divisional Playoffs versus the Seattle Seahawks and missed the National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Meanwhile, facing the Cardinals for the NFC Championship, Davis sustained a broken arm in the first half which kept him out of action for the remainder of the game.

In ESPN's report, Allen was limited during the practice last Wednesday, but the move was a precautionary measure, according to Panthers head coach Ron Rivera.

Davis, on the other hand, already practiced last Monday wearing what he called a "hard brace," which was a cast that has a metal plate and screws, according to ESPN's recent report.

The 32-year-old linebacker practiced fully last Wednesday and Rivera is just waiting for the doctors to say that the linebacker is at one hundred percent.

In his first year with the Panthers, Allen had 27 tackles and two sacks in 12 regular season games played.

For Davis, who is with the Panthers since getting drafted in 2005 and is set to play in his first Super Bowl, it was another full regular season which saw him have 105 tackles and a career-best 5.5 sacks.
