'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' release date news: Sony to publish game in Japan

The much-awaited multiplayer beta testing for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" for the PlayStation 4 is now live. But apart from this important event, there is another set of information to learn about the upcoming game.

According to VG247, instead of Square Enix, Sony will handle the publishing of the game in Japan. This means that the upcoming shooter will be released complete with an option to utilize Japanese dubs and subtitles.

Famitsu has also reported that Microsoft Japan will publish the game for Xbox One consoles in the said region.

Meanwhile, the DLC for "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will be released first for PS4 gamers as part of the exclusivity deal agreed by Activision and Sony. A month after it is released on the said console, Xbox One and PC players will reportedly get their turn.

In other related news, Treyarch design director David Vonderhaar answered fan questions about the game on Twitter.

When he was asked about the game studio's plans in bringing in old weapons and maps, he said, "It's early. Nothing is off the table. The new core movement makes this easy to say and hard to execute on and be faithful to map."

In a question about the unlock systems for the specialists, he said that "about half the Specialist are gated by level and unlocked by tokens." He added that "each then has its own progression," which he compared to a gun.

Lastly, when he was asked if there is a level cap for the beta, he answered, "We got plans for that! Yes and no, is the answer."

The beta version of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is at 15 GB. PS4 gamers get to try it first, while Xbox One and PC players will get a hold of it on Aug. 26. The final version of the game will be released on Nov. 6.
