Boxing news 2016: Floyd Mayweather Jr. shuts down rumored rematch talks with Manny Pacquiao's side

Rumors regarding a possible rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao are unlikely to fade as of the moment, but the retired unbeaten champion is not looking to return anytime soon.

Mayweather ended his career last September when he defeated Andre Berto via unanimous decision to tie the great Rocky Marciano, who also ended his career with a 49–0 record.

But before facing Berto, and even after the fight, talks about a possible rematch with Pacquiao were circulating until now that the Filipino boxing icon is set for his swan song this April versus Timothy Bradley Jr.

Despite all the rumors of him coming out of retirement, Mayweather denied it and said, according to BBC Sport, "As of right now, I am out completely."

Mayweather added, "If I do get the itch to come back, it really won't be for the money but I have to get paid. That's why the nickname is Floyd 'Money' Mayweather."

The five-division champion also put an end to reports stating that Pacquiao's promoter Michael Koncz is communicating with his promotion, Mayweather Promotions, for a possible rematch.

"Everything that you guys are hearing that Michael Koncz has said and what [promoter] Bob Arum has said is totally false. Totally false. I haven't spoken to Bob Arum, I haven't spoken to Michael Koncz," Mayweather expressed.

Mayweather continued that he "dictate and control" what is going on with the promotion, with everything going through him first even if Leonard Ellerbe is the CEO.

A rematch between the two is unlikely as of the moment, with Pacquiao already saying that he is calling it quits following his rubber match with Bradley.

In a report by Sky Sports earlier last month, the former eight-division champion also denied that he is delaying retirement while waiting for another shot at Mayweather.
