Amir Khan is not about to allow himself on the losing end once more and apparently, this is one reason why he initially claimed that he and his camp were walking away from possible fight talks with former sparring partner Manny Pacquiao.
Khan had previously made it known that he would not wait on Pacquiao, believing that he stood to wait for nothing again as he did when he waited on Floyd Mayweather Jr.
On his part, he believed that Pacquiao and company are more inclined for a rematch with Mayweather and apparently, this is what triggered him to move on and look for someone else to fight.
The latest word, however, is that Khan may have just had a change of heart and will wait up to a week for talks to prosper. From there, it is likely that Khan will move forward and pursue other fights.
On his list include names like Danny Garcia, Lamont Peterson, and fellow Brit Kell Brook.
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank had replied to Khan's claims and went on to say that there are no negotiation talks with Mayweather.
"Nobody can figure out why [Khan] is saying that," Arum said in an interview with the L.A. Times. "I've spoken to his attorney, Robert Davis, and we're going back and forth on the numbers," Arum said. "The kid [Khan] talks too much. It's probably why he lost the Mayweather fight. If there's no contract to sign, who's stalling who?" he added.
On Brook, it seems his decision about fighting him hasn't changed. Khan is looking forward to facing Brook, but the thing is the latter needs to face a high profile boxer before he can draw in the fans.
As far as his fight plans are concerned, it looks like Khan is eyeing a fight this December. There is no word if his camp is working on that right now, but a possible clash with Garcia is possible.
"At the moment, our #1 priority is making a fight with Manny Pacquiao happen," Khan said via Yahoo Sports UK & Ireland, also adding, "So hopefully I'll be fighting in December and then Pacquiao next May."
"We've spoken to a few potential opponents for December, but a rematch with Garcia around then would be great. It's still 14 weeks away so it's a possibility," Khan stated.
