Hodgins (TJ Thyne) may be facing a lifetime of being confined on a wheelchair after the serious injuries he sustained from the shocking explosion in "Bones" midseason finale.

Executive producer Michael Peterson, told TV Guide that the specialist, who is now paralyzed from the waist down, will go through an emotional recovery process, as he comes to terms with the tragedy that befell him. His mindset will particularly take its toll on his marriage, when he continues to push Angela (Michaela Conlin) away. Hodgins will reportedly go through the expected route of dealing with a tragedy — anger, denial, and finally acceptance.

"We're going to see the Hodgins of the first couple of seasons, a guy who had to work with anger management, who used to snap his rubber band on his wrist to keep some of his anger in control. He's going to be a little more Gregory House than Hodgins for a while. He's just pissed at the world," he said.

During the finale, a bomb exploded that robbed Hodgins of his ability to walk. Although Aubrey (John Boyd) was able to shield him from most of the blast, a swelling in his spinal cord ultimately led to his paralysis. While Angela would do her best to support her husband through these trying times, his rejection would hurt her. The executive producer said this would push her to seek comfort from Sebastian (Gil Darnell). The photographer would reportedly serve as an "alternative life" for Angela, as she begins to rely on him more and more.

Meanwhile, it appears that Hodgins and Angela will not be the only couple to have problems. Co-showrunner John Collier told TV Line that the second half of season 11 would see Booth and Brennan dealing with an outside threat in their marriage. This will reportedly put the couple "under duress." Is it the threat of a third party?

"Bones" season 11 is expected to return in 2016, but FOX has yet to announce a specific return date.
