'Bones' season 11: Hate reigns over Hodgins, Angela's marriage

Angela (Michaela Conlin) and Hodgins (T.J. Thyne) will have a tough time keeping their marriage intact in the second half of season 11 of the FOX long-running series "Bones."

During the midseason finale, Hodgins suffered injuries to the spine that resulted to his paralysis from the waist down. He and Aubrey (John Boyd) were processing a crime scene when a bomb exploded. Aubrey looked the worse for wear between the two, as he used his body to shield the other man from most of the blast. He was soon back on his feet, though, after spending some time in the hospital. Hodgins, however, was not so lucky, as it was later revealed his back was damaged.

As he tries to cope with this harrowing ordeal, Hodgins will reportedly have a hard time dealing with the pitiful stares of the people around him. His depression and anger will consume him, and these will take their toll on his marriage with Angela. Hodgins will find her love and caring burdensome, especially since he will not be able to give her the child she badly wants. Conlin talked about this difficulty with TV Line, stating that there would be "a lot of angst" for both her character and Thyne's.

"There are different stages of adapting to a tragedy like this, and right now we're in the stage of Hodgins giving up a little bit," she said.

Meanwhile, FOX's co-CEO Dana Walden recently commented on their plans for "Bones" during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. Hollywood Life reports that the producers have yet to discuss on whether or not the current season will be the final installment of the series. Walden assured fans, however, that whichever way it goes, the show would end "on a great note" because they deserve no less.

"We've got such a loyal viewership, and those viewers deserve a very satisfying ending, so we're trying to be very sensitive about that," she shared.

Bones" season 11 is expected to return in 2016, but FOX has yet to announce a specific return date.
