Norma (Vera Farmiga) may be getting a new love interest when the A&E series "Bates Motel" returns for its fourth season.

TV Line reports that "Normero" shippers will be heartbroken to know that Norma may finally be getting over her hot and cold relationship with Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell). For the upcoming installment, the executive producers are bringing back Gregg Edwards, a "compassionate, grounded and empathetic" doctor at Pineview Mental Institution. While it has not yet been revealed who will portray the recurring role, Gregg is reportedly in his 40s who has mastered walking the "fine line between professional curiosity and personal investment in his patients' lives."

Meanwhile, Carbonell recently told Comicbook in an interview that his character was not yet done with Norma. The actor shared the tidbit about the potential romance while at Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta, which was held from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

"For my part, whether anything is going to happen with Norma, she's a frustrating woman, that's all I've got to say. She's a tough one. She's a tough nut to crack so we'll see what happens there," the actor said.

Fans were entertained with the recent exchange of messages of Carbonell and Farmiga on Twitter. The actor posted that he would "bleed Normero" and that he would never remove his "rose-colored glasses." The actress replied that Norma and Romero were meant for each other, always.

Last season finale, Romero even killed his nemesis Bob Paris (Kevin Rahm) to keep Norma safe. Executive producer Kerry Ehrin has recently revealed that it was the first time for Romero to do something purely personal. She said it was because he was in love with Norma.

In an April interview with Yahoo TV, the executive producers have suggested that the two would eventually become a couple. Carlton Cuse revealed that they wanted the viewers to want them together.

"We feel like we have an epic couple with Norma and Romero. We plan to deliver on the promise of that at some point, in some form," he said.

"Bates Motel" season 4 will premiere on A&E in 2016.
