Chris Evans, who portrays Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently sat down for an interview with Esquire and spilled the beans regarding the production schedule for "Avengers: Infinity War" parts 1 and 2.

According to the report, Evans stated that the films will be shot back to back instead of shooting each part separately. This would allow Marvel Studios to save money and time as well as ensuring that all of the cast and crew would be around to complete both projects. It is a practice that many film franchises now practice.

Evans also stated that production for "Captain America: Civil War" is set to begin in a few weeks. Shooting for the film will continue until Aug. or Sept. The actor continues to state that he will have some free time after shooting for the film and he may use this open schedule to act in or direct a smaller film.

He then states that production for "Avengers: Infinity War" will commence around fall or winter of 2016. Both films will be done back-to-back for a duration of 9 months.

Other notable films that were shot back-to-back include Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings," "The Matrix" trilogy, and the final two films for both the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" franchises. Shooting "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" 1 and 2 took a total of 16 months.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Evans' involvement with the "Infinity War" films indicates that Captain America will survive the events of the "Civil War" flick, unlike how events unfolded in the comics. In the source material, Captain America was assassinated after his Civil War defeat at the hands of Iron Man.

"Avengers: Infinity War" Part 1 is scheduled to hit theaters by May 4 2018 while Part 2 will be released by May 3 2019, to be directed by the Russo brothers, who have taken over after Joss Whedon bowed out following his work on "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
