'Attack on Titan' season 2 news update latest news: Sophomore season to explore 'Basement' arc and origins of new Titans?

When "Attack on Titan" returns for its second season, will the focus of the show shift from the heroes to the Titans hiding within the walls?

According to a report by the  Inquisitr, the second season is expected to explore the origins of an ape like Titan called the Beast Titan.

A sneak peek of the beast was also shared by the official Twitter account of KoeiTecmoUS, along with a short description of the new titan:

"#AttackOnTitan Beast Titan - A gigantic ape-like creature that uses sheer force to crush its foes. #KTfamily." The post will definitely drum up more excitement about the character.

Aside from the Beast Titan, new types of Titans are also expected to be introduced like Zeke, an intelligent Titan who transforms like Eren. There is also the Armored Titan who is larger and more powerful than any other Titans

Meanwhile, a report by News Everyday hints that there will be a lot of possibilities that can be explored since the storyline for season 2 is yet to be released. According to the report, the second season will most likely get its material from two arcs from the manga: "Uprising" and "Clash of Titans."

There are also rumors that the series could pick up inspiration from "Basement," an arc in the manga which will bring Eren to Dr. Yaeger's basement.

For fans searching for clues about which direction the anime will take, there may be more clues found in the manga series' third volume, which was released on Sept. 27. Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that a comic book entitled "Attack on Titan Anthology" will also be released on Oct. 18.

So far, Wit Studio has not yet announced any official storyline for the season, but it is expected that it will not veer too far from its successful manga inspiration.
