Most of the reports about the Asus ZenFone 2 are glowing recommendations. Specs-wise, however, how would the new Asus flagship compare with other new releases, such as the Motorola DROID Turbo?

Display

One of the many features that users look for in today's smartphones is how vivid and colorful the screen is. Although the DROID Turbo is much smaller at 5.2 inches compared to the ZenFone 2's 5.5-inch IPS display with capacitive touchscreen, the former offers a stunning display due to its higher pixel density and superior resolution. In terms of numbers, the Motorola DROID Turbo clearly comes out on top, with its Super AMOLED display having a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and a 565 ppi pixel density. For protection, both devices' displays are covered with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The newer ZenFone 2 has an Intel Atom quad-core processor and comes in two RAM versions, a 2-GB and a whopping 4-GB variant. The DROID Turbo, on the other hand, sports a 2.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with 3 GB of RAM. In terms of hardware, although the processor speed of the DROID Turbo is much faster, the ZenFone 2 makes up for a slightly slower 2.3 GHz clock speed by maximizing the number of processes it can simultaneously launch, thanks to its higher RAM capacity.

For storage, the ZenFone 2 might be the winner due to its feature of having an expandable microSD option, which the DROID Turbo lacks.

Other features

Since both phones sport main shooters, comparison between the images and videos from both devices tell that the Motorola DROID Turbo's 21 MP main camera takes the cake since it can shoot 2160p videos at 24 frames per second and 1080p videos at a fluid 30 fps. Meanwhile, the Asus ZenFone 2 has a 13 MP camera with dual-LED flash support and geo-tagging features.
