'Arrow' season 4 spoilers, plot rumors: Diggle's codename, Malcolm's alliance

The past few days have been a little too spoiler-y for "Arrow" season 4 with a slew of new information spilling out almost all at once. For one, in the upcoming season, Oliver's right-hand man John Diggle is getting not only a new helmet but also a codename.

Sadly, executive producer Wendy Mericle still left fans guessing but she did assure them during an interview with Collider that it is a codename that's "fun" and "cool" enough (and also DC Comics-approved) to go around. But before Diggle suits up, Oliver has to make amends for what transpired last season.

In season 3, the latter's plans to beat the demon's head imperiled the former's family, which Diggle just won't allow to pass. Mericle promised that Dig and Ollie are going to work things out so the team is surely getting back in shape. Mr. Terrific will also occasionally help them out in crime-fighting although the EP stressed he won't be in full superhero mode in "Arrow" season 4. Team Arrow could certainly use another member with all the big baddies coming their way.

Damien Darhk is set out to destroy Star City and Mericle hinted that Malcolm Merlyn aka the new Ra's Al Ghul will likely team up with the cold-blooded villain to watch the city burn. Although he "feels like he could ally with Damien," the EP said Malcolm also thinks "he could ally with the team."

"Arrow" season 4, as described by executive producer Marc Guggenheim during the Television Critics Association via TV Insider, will introduce "magic and mysticism" in the form of Sara Lance's resurrection and John Constantine (from the cancelled NBC series) helping out to make that happen.

In the premiere of the season though, it will be more about Ollie becoming the Green Arrow.

"He can't be the Arrow anymore, because everyone believes that Roy Harper was the Arrow, and Roy Harper is dead, at least as far as everyone believes," Guggenheim explained to Green Arrow TV. "So, he had to adopt a new identity. All of this is explained in the season premiere; we come straight out with it."

"Arrow" season 4 airs Oct. 7.
