With the success of Apple's first wearable, the company is looking to update the Apple Watch with a newer device reportedly packed with new features.
Apple has recently announced the update of the Apple Watch's platform to WatchOS 2. However, the new update maximizes the Apple Watch only up to an extent; thus, it is speculated that the Cupertino-based company is already looking toward developing a new wearable to be released by next year.
Although confirmation has yet to be made by the Apple camp, it seems that some sources inside the company are already leaking the information to outsiders. According to reports by Apple fan and observer site 9to5Mac, the second-generation Apple Watch will have new features, most notable among them a video camera and a slightly improved battery.
Giving the new Apple a video camera on the top bezel of the device means that users will be able to engage in FaceTime calls without grabbing their iPhones. Indeed, with the Apple Watch's wireless integration to the user's smartphone, notifications and feeds can be seen instantly on the watch face. The new feature seems to be confirmed by Apple showcasing the FaceTime function as one of the features of WatchOS 2 at the recently-concluded Worldwide Developers Conference.
In addition to the new FaceTime feature, the upcoming second-gen Apple Watch will also have an improved battery. Although Apple has said that majority of its Watch users are satisfied with the current battery life of the device, the company is said to be improving the wearable's battery hardware specs. Adding more advanced features such as Nightstand charging and power-saving options could be an indication that Apple is aiming to extend the new Apple Watch's average daily battery life.
Apple has yet to comment on these claims, and although information allegedly came from inside sources, details should only be regarded as mere speculations as of the moment.
