Apple Watch 2 release date rumors: Smartwatch could be out as soon as next week

If the rumors are to be believed, the much-talked-about Apple Watch 2 will be here as early as next week. Apple is expected to lift the covers off the smartwatch at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), happening on June 13 to 17.

The Cupertino-based company raised speculations about the imminent launch of the Apple Watch 2 when they offered discounts on the price of the original timepiece not too long ago.

Price markdowns are usually an indication that a new version of the discounted device is about to drop. Applying this thinking to the Apple Watch 2, it will make sense that the wearable will be out as early as this month.

However, Gizmodo points out that the WWDC is hardly ever the stage Apple goes for when releasing major offerings. This means that the Apple Watch 2 might be unveiled in a much more fitting event.

Looking back into the release of the first Apple Watch, the device was announced by Apple CEO Tim Cook back in September 2014, but it wasn't made available until April last year.

Macworld thinks that the September event for this year will also be used by Apple to reveal the Apple Watch 2 as well as its release date, although the publication is not discounting a possible WWDC unveiling.

In the past, reports claimed that the Apple Watch 2 has long been in the works in time for a June reveal. Whether or not WWDC will be a disappointing event for Apple Watch fans, it won't be a long wait before they learn the real deal.

As for the specs of the Apple Watch 2, rumor has it that it won't receive a drastic makeover on the outside, but will receive tons on the inside.

The device is expected to be less dependent to a smartphone and will also be more powerful with an ARM Cortex-32 processor running under its hood. Through this chipset, the Apple Watch 2 should run 25 percent faster than its predecessor.
