Fans around the world are eagerly waiting for the new update on their Android devices. However, as with other previous updates, Android users need to wait for over-the-air update notifications for their devices. As of this time, the only devices who have gotten the OTA updates are the different units under Google's own Nexus lineup.
However, unlike with other previous Android updates, it seems fans will not have to wait long for the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow platform. Recent reports suggest that outside of the Nexus lineup, some tech manufacturers such as LG are already lining up for an early Android 6.0 update. According to reports, LG's current flagship, the G4, will receive its Marshmallow update next week.
Meanwhile, fans of Android from other tech manufacturers are wondering when their devices will get the new platform.
According to Express UK, although HTC will be among the first ones to get an Android Marshmallow update, the 6.0 version will land outside of North America first. U.S. HTC users will have to wait a bit longer, as this time, the updates will roll out for European devices first. Already confirmed to be getting their updates before the year ends are the two flagship HTC devices, the current M9 and older M8. Meanwhile, other lineups such as the E- series, One M8, Butterfly 3, and Desire 826 will have their Marshmallow updates in the first half of 2016.
As for another tech giant, Sony, it was already confirmed that the new flagships will get an Android 6.0 update. Although no specific rollout dates have been revealed, some tech-savvy users can already have their first glimpse of the new platform. Sony has published Android 6.0 files for some of their flagships, under the company's Open device program.
Meanwhile, it is also expected that Samsung is already hard at work building its version of the new platform for its lineup. However, this will be a general manufacturer's variant, and users might need to wait longer for the Android 6.0 updates from their respective mobile carriers.
