'Amazing Spider-Man 3' update: Should Spider-Man stay in Sony?

Since "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" happened, it became clear that Sony didn't know what it was doing with the movie franchise. And since a sequel will definitely happen, no one knows what the story will be like and how Sony can rise up from the ashes in the third movie. Not to mention, "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" release date has been pushed to 2018.  Yes, it's that far.

On the other hand, there's no question that fans love Spider-Man. In the comics, Spider-Man is well-loved because he is a teenage superhero who has normal teenage problems and yet, he still manages to save the world. However, Sony looks like has failed to save the movie franchise, two times in a row.

The first was with Tobey Maguire's "Spider-Man." The first two movies were great, but the last movie was a big letdown. As for the reboot "The Amazing Spider-Man," the first movie was the only one that fans and critics liked. As a result, the fate of "Spider-Man" in Sony now hangs on a balance.

In the past months, there have been rumors that Spider-Man will have a new home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, is this really the way? While fans of Spider-Man and Marvel superheroes would feast on the idea of seeing both on the big screen together, it may not be the best route to take.

Movie Pilot proposes a better solution for Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man." The site reports that it may be better if the web slinger becomes an on-going TV show under Netflix. This is the direction that "Daredevil" is taking. With Spider-Man, Movie Pilot suggests that a movie can be done in between successful seasons. Or, if the TV show becomes a hit, they can continue the story to the movies.

Other suggestions include casting a real teenager to play the role of Peter Parker. And then there's taking on one villain at a time and not trying to squeeze Spider-Man's villains together in one-go.

It will be sad to see the iconic Spider-Man movie franchise go down the drain. Hopefully, Sony is already using its think tank to come up with the best possible way to keep the franchise afloat.
