Will there be a reunion between Ward (Brett Dalton) and Skye (Chloe Bennet) when Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns for season 3B? As far as executive producer Jed Whedon is concerned, it is possible.

According to Entertainment Weekly, viewers may be able to see Ward and Skye reconciling now that they are both Inhuman. In season 1, their romance was short-lived. Ward turned his back to S.H.I.E.L.D. and joined the Hydra to get revenge on Coulson (Clark Gregg). Sky took the name Daisy Johnson when she learned about her true identity after meeting her parents. Things got more complicated when Ward went after Rosalind (Constance Zimmer) and killed her to spite Coulson.

The head of S.H.I.E.L.D. retaliated by ending Ward's life in Maveth. Viewers saw, however, that although he died as a human, a slug-like creature that is speculated to be Inhuman possessed his body. The new Ward then travelled back to Earth, where he is sure to cause more trouble for Coulson, Skye and the team. IGN reports that it will be a lot difficult to get through Ward now, as they would be dealing with "a human being plus something else."

While it is highly unlikely that the two will ever get back together, Whedon gives hope to the shippers that Ward and Skye would let bygones be bygones and reunite. Skye was a significant part of Ward's life and though he will not likely remember her after being possessed, it is possible she can bring him back to his old self. In his interview, the EP talked about the possibility of the reunion. He cautioned fans, though, that it would not be so easy for the pair.

"Now she is not Skye and he is not Ward. He has changed, but just as we saw with Will, there was still some of Will left in him. They're both altered humans at this point. I don't know. I feel like the chances are greater than ever... It's going to get complicated," Whedon said.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns Tuesday, March 8 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
