Andrew's Jekyll may have finally succumbed to his Lash's Hyde in the second half of the hit ABC series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3.
Ming-Na Wen, who plays Agent May, spoke to TV Line about the future of her former husband. Andrew fought hard against his Inhuman transformation for most of the season. Unfortunately, his homicidal side won. He began hunting other Inhumans, thinking that it was his mission to rid the world of his specie. Now that he is at large once again, viewers can expect that he will continue his vendetta and perhaps, forever shed the little humanity left in him.
"In her hope of hopes, May's hoping Andrew can be brought back, but... I don't think it's happening. But I just don't know!" the actress said in her interview.
In the past, he kidnapped May and destroyed her trust. The last time he was seen, he was hightailing out of Maveth when the agent and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) decided to go back to the S.H.I.E.L.D. team instead of capturing him. As demonstrated before the midseason finale, Andrew as Lash was extremely powerful. It took both Coulson's (Clark Gregg) and Rosalind's (Constance Zimmer) groups to trap him inside the confinement chamber, and even that was not able to hold him for long.
Meanwhile, executive producer Jed Whedon teased about May and Coulson's relationship in season 3B. The two had a falling out, but it looks like their bad experiences will bridge the gap between them. The executive producer told Entertainment Weekly that their friendship may have taken a beating, but it has always been there. It would be their suffering that would bring them back together.
"They've both suffered almost unimaginable losses. They've always been close... Their scenes together, you can feel the history, and feel their friendship. Having both suffered so much, it only follows logic that they would end up being driven together by it," he said.
"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 3 will return on March 8 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
