'Agents of SHIELD' season 3 spoilers: Coulson, Fitz trapped in Maveth in episode 10

Coulson and Fritz make the ultimate sacrifice in the upcoming episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." ABC/Marvel

Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) may end up trapped in the other planet in the upcoming midseason finale of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

In "Maveth," Comicbook reports that the S.H.I.E.L.D. leader and his agent will be taking "the ultimate risk." Last episode, Coulson ended up following Fitz, Ward (Brett Dalton), and several Hydra agents through the portal to the other world. But when he came barreling down the gateway, he fell off the cliff and got knocked out. The synopsis reveals that when he wakes up, he will be reunited with Fritz, and that is when they will decide on something that will change their lives forever. Could this mean that they will be stuck there forever?

The question that begs to be answered for the S.H.I.E.L.D. fans is whether Coulson and Fritz will sacrifice themselves to keep the terrifying creature on Maveth or run the risk of bringing it home with them. The way viewers see it, opening the portal will mean transporting everyone that has been trapped in the foreign planet. If Coulson decides to do that, he will set the creature loose on Earth, where it is sure to cause chaos. But if he and Fritz stay, there is no guarantee that their team can still pull them out, or if they will survive.

The promo released for episode 10 shows that is exactly what the Secret Warriors and S.H.I.E.L.D. squad have been doing. They are frantic to bring their men home. However, they also have to face a crossroad here, as they decide on the world and their friends' fate. Which will they choose? Meanwhile, Coulson will be missing a huge battle on Earth as Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and her band of Inhumans fight to keep Hydra at bay. Will she succeed without her mentor?

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3, episode 10 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
