3 new Android phones under US$200

Gone are the days that one has to commit to a two-year contract or sign away a whole life's worth unto a carrier. Smartphone manufacturers have created numerous models that will cater to every possible need of a user without being too pricey.

Here are a few of the reasonably priced Android smartphone available as of August 2016, all of which are under US$200.

Motorola Moto G 2015 (3rd Gen.)

Amazon is currently offering an unlocked black-colored Moto G 2015 for US$149.99. The device offers a 5-inch HD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a quad-core processor with 1.4 GHz speed, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and a microSD slot that can accommodate up to a 32GB card. It also includes a 13MP main camera, a 5MP front-facing one and can offer up to 24 hours in a single charge with its 2,470 mAh battery. It comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop, upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

BLU Life One X 2016 - Similarly priced to the Moto G 2015 on Amazon is the BLU Life One X, which is a recently released phone. It offers a 4G LTE connection, 5.2-inch Full HD screen with Corning Glass 3, an octa-core Mediatek processor offering 1.3 GHz speed. It also comes with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and an expansion slot for up to 64GB card. It has a 13MP main camera with flash and a 5MP secondary camera. A 2,900 mAh battery will last up to 24 hours for moderate use, dual-SIM, Android 5.1 Lollipop and is upgradable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Honor 5X - For US$189.99, one can opt for the gold-colored Honor 5X that offers 5.5-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 p display resolution. It packs a Snapdragon 616 under the hood, paired with 2 GB of RAM. It also comes with a 16 GB internal storage and capable of supporting 256 GB microSD card. It has 13MP main and 5MP secondary cameras. It also comes with a Fingerprint sensor, DTS audio feature and a 3,000 mAh battery.

For those who does not mind being on a lock-down or through a prepaid carrier, there are even cheaper phones from Cricket, AT&T, Boost, T-Mobile and Verizon listings.
