Nissan is ready to do battle in the SUV wars with its upcoming 2017 Pathfinder. The Japanese automaker overhauled the all-around sports utility vehicle to cope with the times: a refreshed interior and exterior, new safety features and several more.
Michael Bunce, vice president, product planning, Nissan North America, said, "The Nissan Pathfinder has an amazing heritage as one of the modern pioneers in the SUV segment, with more than 30 years in the marketplace, yet we are always looking forward – as the Pathfinder name implies," Autos Cheat Sheet reported.
Bunce added "For 2017, Pathfinder receives much more than your typical facelift. It now offers more power, towing capability, improved driving dynamics and new available driver assistance features –more of what you need for safe, comfortable every day and weekend family adventures."
The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder will be powered by a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine on its every adventure, which can crank up to 284 horsepower, with 259 lb-ft of torque. This also provides an impressive 6,000 lbs. of towing capability. It also has an EPA estimated consumption of 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the hi-way.
Outside, the new grille, redesigned headlights, foglights, daytime running lights, the chiseled line on its hood and all the way back to its newly designed tail lights and new 20-inch wheels all add up to its more masculine and modern look . While the stiffened suspensions, adjusted steering and its easy selection from 2WD to 4WD with a simple turn of a dial make driving on different terrain more pleasurable.
Inside, the standard 8-inch color touch-screen display not only assists in navigation with its NissanConnect but also provides entertainment as well as access to a smartphone when connected via Bluetooth. The optional USB inputs, Tri-Zone Entertainment System with dual rear monitors and other perks will surely keep everyone entertained in long or short drives.
A new set of safety features is also available with the upcoming Nissan Pathfinder. One can opt for Forward Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control, Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Sonar System. A motion-activated liftgate is also available on the higher-trim models.
The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is expected to arrive this fall and will be available in S, SV, SL and Platinum trim levels; however, no info on pricing is available yet.
