Earlier this year, Chinese tech manufacturer Xiaomi announced that it will finally be breaching the US smartphone market. With reports suggesting that a company flagship has been spotted in a U.S. certification agency, will Xiaomi be entering soon?

According to a report by Gadgets 360, a new Xiaomi flagship dubbed the Redmi 2 Pro has been said to pass the U.S. FCC certification. On the FCC website, the specifications for the device are also listed, and the industry follower mentioned that the Redmi 2 Pro may have been a rebranded Redmi 2 Prime, the flagship launched in India last August. The upcoming Xiaomi smartphone closely resembles the Indian iteration.

It was listed that the Redmi 2 Pro will have a 4.7-inch HD display, with 720 x 1280 resolution. In addition, the device will run on a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, partnered with 2 GB of RAM. There will be 16 GB of internal storage and 2,200-mAh battery. It was not mentioned if the storage will be expandable.

The upcoming smartphone is expected to roll out running on the recently-released MiUI 7.

In terms of connectivity, the Redmi 2 Pro has been listed as having Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, and 4G LTE connections.

There are two schools of thought regarding this sighting. Although the FCC listing is not a confirmation of Xiaomi finally entering the US market, it might be an indication that the Chinese company may enter by next year. Previously, Xiaomi indicated that it is interested in breaching the U.S. market and has already listed some tech accessories for U.S. fans. Meanwhile, the FCC listing may well be just one requirement for the Redmi 2 Pro to be a device made for an international release.

Aside from the Redmi 2 Pro, there are also reports that Xiaomi is readying another flagship, this time a follow-up to its Redmi Note 2 phablet.
