Fans of author George R.R. Martin might soon be able to know what happens next in the continuing saga of "A Song of Ice and Fire," as it is rumored that "The Winds of Winter" will be released much earlier than expected. According to speculations, Martin dropped hints as to the development of the upcoming sixth book.

A recent post on his official blog might be hinting that the long wait is over. Martin posted that he will be going to New York and New Jersey, and that "while I will be travelling, my army on minions will be here at the old homestead, toiling in the paper mines."

Almost all of the fans are eagerly waiting for the next installment in the series, especially since it is the backbone for the hit HBO TV show "Game of Thrones." The fifth season has already ended, and fans of both the TV show and the books are clamoring for the writer to finish the book.

Earlier this year, fans were delighted when the author made a promise to concentrate on his task and finish the sixth book by next year. Apparently, he had been going to great lengths just to satisfy his reading audience, even eschewing the limelight, to focus entirely in finishing "The Winds of Winter."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin said, "I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews — anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done."

The author again reiterated that he has shifted from writing for the TV series to devoting his time writing the next book.

In an interview with Jets player and "Game of Thrones" fan D'Brickashaw Ferguson, the writer stated, "I can write one script per season if I choose to, and I did for the first four seasons, I scripted one episode every season. So the last two seasons I have not done that, simply because I am too busy with the book."
