Floyd Mayweather vs Connor McGregor fight news 2015: Will 'Money' ever consider a bout with McGregor?

Connor McGregor has been known to engage in trash talk, particularly in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) world. But now, it looks like he is following the lead of Ronda Rousey in trying to goad boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. to a match inside the Octagon.

Of course Mayweather will not bite, calling the tirade via TMZ as nothing more than a guy looking to gain publicity in a cheap way.

Mayweather is set to enter the ring on Sept. 12 against Andre Berto in what he claims will be his last fight as a professional boxer. More importantly, Mayweather will be looking to equal the 49-0 record of Rocky Marciano. What happens after that is anyone's guess but many do not buy the claim that he is retiring.

Whether Mayweather retires or not, McGregor is simply interested in getting the goat of Mayweather. Although it would be shocking to see Mayweather agree to such, it is obvious that Mayweather's vaunted defense in the boxing ring will have no meaning inside the UFC cage.

"In a real fight, I would dismantle him in seconds," McGregor said via the Rolling Stone. "Ronda would dismantle him in seconds – 100 percent. When you don't know how to grapple, you don't stand a chance. For us, it's like playing with a baby. People who don't understand the sport cannot understand how vulnerable they are. …"

Obviously Mayweather will not stand a chance since the two sports are pretty far off.

Could money sway Mayweather to agree to such?

McGregor believes that a unique fight could generate half a billion, more than what Mayweather earned when he fought Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao last May.

Mayweather will be, of course, in an uncanny position and chances are he will not risk it despite another lucrative payday.

Will it happen? Don't count on it. Mayweather is too wise to fall for such antics.
