UFC news: Meisha Tate finally speaks up on botched third fight with Ronda Rousey

One has to wonder why Miesha Tate never spoke a word when news came out that she has been shunned in favor of Holly Holm as far as UFC women's champion Ronda Rousey's next opponent. That was until recently when Tate was interviewed at Invicta FC 14.

It was the first time that Tate spoke about the sudden change, obviously hurt that she wasn't informed by the promotions that she was replaced by Holm. She further added that she was looking forward and already under training when the sudden change came.

A third meeting between Tate and Rousey wasn't exactly something that drew a thumbs up. Seeing that Rousey had dominated Tate in the previous two outings left many to believe that the third meeting would have turned out practically the same.

The only consolation that Tate had was that she was able to last longer than the first round against Rousey. As everyone knows, Rousey has run over her opponents in record time, demolishing them inside the first round.

Tate was hoping to get another shot, following a unanimous decision win over Jessica Eye at UFC on Fox 16 last July. It was the fourth win for Tate which seemed to be enough to justify a third meeting.

On the sudden change, here is what UFC President Dana White had to say:

"Miesha, at this point in her career, if she loses to Ronda Rousey a third time, it's a career-killer. I know it seems like Miesha got a bad break in this thing, but realistically when you look at it, Miesha has lost to her twice. Miesha's going to have to knock a couple more people off to get to Ronda."

Instead, Tate is said to be facing Amanda Nunes next. The tiff has yet to be made official.
