UFC fight rumors 2016: Jose Aldo nixes possible tiff with Rafael dos Anjos

Jose Aldo continues to ponder on what the future has for him. And while those plans are up in the air, there is one person he dares not face, his friend Rafael dos Anjos.

The scenario would have been there had Aldo won over McGregor at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 194. The former champion revealed recently that among the plans for the winner of that match was to elevate the victor to the lightweight division and face the champion who turns out to be dos Anjos.

One has to wonder what could have been the scenario. Aldo is not too keen on facing dos Anjos mainly because they are friends but did not discount the possibility since he knows anything goes in the UFC.

As far as the upcoming fight between McGregor and dos Anjos at UFC 197 this March is concerned, Aldo is siding with his friend and believes that "The Notorious" is in for a rough night, according to Globo Esporte. He doesn't see McGregor walking out of it as the winner, the same sentiment shared by others such as Fabricio Werdum.

As for himself, Aldo is clueless on whom he will fight next. But he does want one match to happen — a rematch with McGregor.

He believes that he is owed a rematch, a privilege that is due to all champions who lose. Right now, that is what Aldo and his group are fighting for, although it remains uncertain if the UFC will budge.

Frankie Edgar has been mentioned as the likely next opponent for McGregor as far as the UFC featherweight title is concerned. There is no official date for that to happen but is likely to take shape after UFC 197.

Aldo has stood pat on his desire to face McGregor, although there is no assurance that he may get the nod from the UFC for now.

Aldo was defeated in just 13 seconds at UFC 194, something which he admits was partly his fault for miscalculating on the Irishman.
