UFC fight news 2015: Rashad Evans wants to fight Alexander Gustaffson

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was hoping to make a grand return to the octagon at UFC 192 but unfortunately fell to a more impressive Ryan Bader via unanimous decision.

Evans has yet to recall the form that made him champion but this hasn't stopped him from looking forward to future fights. In fact he already has a person in mind for his next match – Alexander Gustaffson.

The Swede was incidentally at UFC 192 as well but came short too. He was up against UFC champion Daniel Cormier to whom he lost via split decision.

In essence, seeing the two who lost their match at UFC 192 would make sense. It would however require the endorsement of the UFC first.

Gustaffson's camp is open to the possible face-off though the Swede's team says that they will be fixing things first internally.

Apparently such has to do with Gustaffson falling short of winning the title, the loss to Cormier, which was the second time the Swede has lost. Once all that has been covered, talks of a possible fight can commence.

Another prerequisite is however on whether the UFC has plans for either fighter. A third man who has seemingly been left out of the mix is Ryan Bader.

Bader was hoping to get a shot at Cormier's title but as everyone knows by now, Jon Jones will likely be the first in line. Jones was recently reinstated and chances are Bader will be given a new opponent who has yet to be determined.

Seeing that the UFC seems to be prioritizing a Cormer vs. Jones match, all other fighters may have to wait a bit to see when they will be lined up for action.

And that includes Rashad Evans and Alexander Gustaffson.
