Luke Rockhold had always believed he was at the top of the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight division and finally after TUF 22, he finally makes it official.

Heading into the fight against a seasoned Chris Weidman, there was no telling what Rockhold would unleash. While he has been pummeling one opponent after the other, Weidman was no pushover at least before the match took place.

As it turned out, Rockhold was all business from the opening bell. Although the fight had controversial moments, there was no denying that the 31-year-old fighter wanted the middleweight belt very badly.

The end came at the 3:12 mark of the fourth round where Weidman was floored and a recipient of vicious strikes at that point.

But the match could have ended earlier on with Rockhold apparently dominating and seemingly too much for Weidman to handle. And Rockhold was apparently aware of the advantage and momentum on his side by the third round, and it was only a matter of time before the referee would actually put a stop to it.

And that time eventually came in the fourth round.

From here, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for Rockhold. A rematch could make sense but seeing how the fight went, the lopsided nature may just sway the UFC to look at other fighters.

The names of Vitor Belfort and Yoel Romero have been mentioned as possible opponents.

A match with Belfort is more of a revenge match for Rockhold who would want to get back at his conqueror back in 2013 at UFC on FX. But Romero is an equally interesting opponent, so it may all boil down to who his camp will eventually decide to face next.

"Yoel's a tough dude. I'll let the boss choose. That fight will happen. Me and Yoel have to fight. We know this is coming," Rockhold says via Sherdog.com
