Jose Aldo is set to finally face Conor McGregor at UFC 194 on Dec. 12, a tiff that would have taken place back in July had the Brazilian fighter not been forced out due to a rib injury.
The two obviously hate each other which makes their upcoming clash something to watch out for. Both have been exchanging proverbial jabs at each other even before the set clash, and now, it looks like Aldo intends to put a stop to the McGregor-related questions after the December tiff.
Aldo suffered a rib injury during training leading to the original UFC 189 bout, forcing him to withdraw. The fight went on with McGregor facing and eventually winning against Chad Mendes, but the revelation after the bout is what McGregor has been ranting about.
It turns out McGregor was nursing an injury (knee) as well but went on with the fight. He took that against Aldo, claiming that the latter's injury was as a poor excuse to withdraw from the tiff. Now, the two will finally meet, hopefully both 100% healthy.
Speaking to journalists during his Children's Day social project, as reported by MMA Fighting, Aldo bared that he is busy preparing against the brash Irishman and that his rib is feeling a whole lot better compared to some months back. He admitted that he has stepped up his training which is getting harder as the clash nears.
Both Aldo and McGregor are heading into UFC 194 confident and the only thing that perhaps worries the former right now is another unwanted injury.
Like most people anticipating the match, it seems that both are even on all accounts.
For UFC talent Urijah Faber, who had fought Aldo in the past, the bout is a tough one to call. According to MMA Junkie, Faber shared with MMAjunkie Radio that while he does say that a win by McGregor would be good for the sport, the same may be said for a victory by Aldo.
From a standpoint, he believes that Aldo is almost unbeatable, but a win by the trash-talking McGregor has created some animosity as well. So in the end, it seems that it will be the UFC that wins regardless of who between Aldo or McGregor pulls through.
