The 2-in-1 hybrid war is heating up. Another tech giant, Toshiba, announced that it will be fielding its own take on a "Surface-like" tablet workhorse.
The newly announced tablet first appeared as a display and prototype model in this year's IFA in Berlin. Now, Toshiba is confirming that it will release its own take on the 2-in-1 hybrid with the new DynaPad.
In a blog post, Microsoft and Toshiba announced their partnership for the new lineup of the tech manufacturer. Included in the new flagships, the DynaPad tablet will also carry the newly released Windows 10 platform and all the improved and new features for the updated OS.
Meanwhile, one of the most noted features of the new DynaPad tablet is its pen accessory. The stylus included for the new workhorse is a high-precision, high-performance Wacom Active Electrostatics (ES) TruPen. In addition, the sensors in the tablet have metal mesh technology.
As the stylus itself is designed with 2,048 levels of pressure, noted The Verge, this makes note taking and using the pen much easier, touch-responsive, and more convenient. The website also noted that with the metal mesh technology, using the pen will feel like writing on paper, making for a more accurate use and natural feel.
Specs-wise and under the hood, the new tablet is also a contender with other "Surface-like" competitors already out in the market. According to Engadget, the DynaPad has a specially coated, 12-inch WUXGA IPS display. The display has special anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint features, and additional wide viewing angles.
However, a drawback for some tech-conscious fans is the tablet's core. Although it runs on 4 GB of RAM, the DynaPad only has a 1.44 GHz Intel Atom processor, unlike the much higher specs of Surface Pro and other hybrids.
The new DynaPad is already available for pre-orders in Japan, and will come out to the U.S. and European markets by early next year.
