"Thor: Ragnarok" is set to be out in cinemas on Nov. 3, and Marvel movie fans are expecting the third installment of the Thunder God's epic superhero adventure to be as good as last year's "Captain America: Civil War."
From the handful of trailers that have been teasing fans for months, fans already know that Thor will be battling the all-powerful goddess of death —Hela. In the trailer, the goddess smashed the mighty hammer Mjolnir into pieces, which left Thor weaponless in a planet filled with gladiators. Among these gladiators was the Asgardian's' fellow avenger —the Incredible Hulk.
The movie's plot will have Thor search for a weapon that will stop Ragnarok. In literature, Ragnarok is a prophesized day where all Asgardians will die with their home left in ruins and rubble. For the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) version, not much has been changed except for the fact that Thor must first survive the gladiator pits.
Fans are also enjoying the fact that the Hulk in this film is spitting sentences like the ones seen in the comics "Planet Hulk." From the MCU lineup that started in 2008, only the Hulk did not get a sequel before or after the "Avengers" movies. Following the events that happened in "Age of Ultron," the Hulk was seen flying away from the Helecarrier on a Quinjet and was nowhere to be seen during the event of "Civil War." The upcoming movie will put Hulk in an important role to help save the Asgardians.
Valkyrie, one of Marvel's most powerful female warrior, will also be making her debut to the MCU. The Valkyrie of the comics and the one in the movie is half accurate as noticed by fans. The comic book version took after the image of the Valkyrie from the Norse mythology. She is a battle-maiden in blue armor made by mystical dwarves. Her hair is golden yellow and has the ability to fly.
Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie in the movie version, looks very different from the one in the comics. However, the trailers are doing a good job in introducing a more real-world and modern-day version of Valkyrie.
Lady Sif and Heimdall will be returning for the third time along with the god of mischief, Loki. New characters such as the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) and Skurge (Karl Urban) will be joining the MCU in the movie.
One final thing that fans took note of is how Dr. Strange will help in finding Asgard's Odin Allfather. Since Strange is the new Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen might have acquired new and deeper knowledge about the arcane.
"Thor: Ragnarok" bridged the huge gap that separated the "Avengers" and the "Guardians of the Galaxy."
