'The Winds of Winter' release date news, rumors: Martin rumored to have lost the manuscript; fans to boycott the 'Game of Thrones' season 7

It seems that the hit series "Game of Thrones" and the upcoming book "The Winds of Winter" are in a clash right now, which certainly puts a lot of George R.R. Martin's fans in one of the most difficult positions as of the moment. After all, the book is known for the controversy surrounding it, not because of its sexual content, gore or even violence but only because the author is taking his time writing it.

According to the Parent Herald, the author only has until 2018 to have a legitimate reason to deliver the book. However, due to the various requirements of the "Game of Thrones" series on HBO, as well as the hype surrounding it, it has made sure that the release date of "The Winds of Winter" is delayed. After all, the author did his best to keep up with the show's seasons, but in exchange, he missed the December 2015 deadline he set upon himself in order to deliver the book.

Meanwhile, the Game N Guide is saying that there are rumors starting to spread online, saying that the reason behind the ultimate delay of the book is simply because Martin has lost the manuscript. That, and coupled with other reasons, will totally make the 2017 release date an unlikely event. One of the other reasons reported is that Martin is trying to instead write the prequel of his series "A Song of Ice and Fire."

With all these delays, it also seems that the fans of the book are becoming more and more agitated, as it is believed that the sixth book will cover a long period of time in Westeros, which means that there will be a lot of historical events that will cover hundreds of pages. Regardless, it could be possible that fans will rebel and boycott the seventh season of "Game of Thrones" if no release date is given soon.
