"A Song of Ice and Fire" author George R.R. Martin has basically told fans not to believe in rumors about the release of the sixth installment in the epic saga, but it doesn't mean that followers of the series won't have anything to look forward to for the meantime.

In an interview at the Emmy Awards, the author admitted that there is still a lot of work to be done still before he completes the penultimate installment in the saga. However, he assured fans of the fantasy franchise that he will be delivering two more installments to the series, including "The Winds of Winter."

"I do have thousands of pages of fake history of everything that led up to Game of Thrones. So there's a wealth of material there and I'm still writing more," he said.

Fans who are fond of reading into the author's statements were quick to speculate that the delays in the release of the sixth and seventh books is because Martin is cooking up a prequel to the series.

He was quick to debunk the rumors. "But at the moment, we still have this show to finish, and I still have two books to finish, so that's all speculation," he said.

While nothing is confirmed yet in terms of "The Winds of Winter" book, Martin does have something to tide over hard core fans of the books and the television series.

Last Sept. 29, Apple iBook released the "A Game of Thrones: Enhanced Edition" which includes selected material from "The Winds of Winter."

"Anything that confuses you, anything you want to know more about, it's right there at your fingertips. It's an amazing next step in the world of books," Martin said.

Other books in the series will also be given the digital treatment as "A Clash of Kings" will be released on Oct.27. "A Storm of Swords" will get a Dec. 15 release date. "A Feast of Crows" comes out in February 2017, and "A Dance of Dragons" will be released in March.

The digital copy of "A Game of Thrones: Enhanced Edition" retails for $8.99.
