'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers news: Damon to die in upcoming episode?

Episode 5 of The CW's "The Vampire Diaries" promises to be an exciting one for the Salvatore brothers as another character will allegedly die.

Rumors are rife that it will be Damon who will exit the show next. Michael Trevino's character Tyler Lockwood was killed off in the previous episode by Damon himself when he attacked the werewolf and drank copious amounts of his blood.

It is expected that Stefan (Paul Wesley) will do everything in his power to help his brother break out of Sybil's (Nathalie Kelley) spell, but it may prove to be too strong. Fans are speculating that the only way out may be to end his brother's life.

In a clip released for the episode, Stefan is seen talking to Caroline (Candice Accola), and he is telling her that he may be forced to do something she might not forgive. The promo also shows Caroline advising Bonnie (Kat Graham) to get to Enzo (Michael Malarkey), while Matt (Zach Roerig), who also had a close call from Damon, tries to make sense of messages in a box that he received.

As Damon continues down a path of destruction, fans are worried that Stefan will be forced to stop his brother because only he has the power to do so, despite not wanting to if he was left with another option.

"Damon spirals down a dangerous path of self-destruction, which forces Stefan to make a gut-wrenching decision that threatens to change their relationship forever. Meanwhile, Bonnie gets advice from Caroline on how to break through to Enzo; and Matt attempts to decipher a mysterious box of messages that he received. Finally, after tragedy strikes close to home, Stefan and the others are forced to remember what matters most to them," the synopsis read.

Meanwhile, there are also speculations that Damon has already broken free of the spell. However, fans are left wondering why he continues to follow Sybil's orders if this is true.

"The Vampire Diaries" episode 5 — entitled "Coming Home was a Mistake" — airs on Friday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
