'The Sims 4' news: New mobile game to be based on Legacy Challenge

Electronic Arts will be releasing a new "The Sims" game for mobile devices. Simply titled "The Sims Mobile," the game will be based on the "Legacy Challenge," which is a set of rules to be followed when playing "The Sims 4."

The Verge notes that the "Legacy Challenge" requires players to create and sustain a family in-game for several generations. According to the official page of "The Sims Mobile" on Google Play, the game echoes this challenge because retiring Sims will allow players to unlock hobbies and careers for the next generations of Sims, thereby deepening the story of the created characters. An example it gave is that a grandfather who worked as a lawyer can open a path for the granddaughter to become a judge.

This title will also allow players to do the tasks that have become the trademark of "The Sims": creating a unique character with its own personality, build homes, and interact with other Sims to form relationships in order to claim rewards. It is rumored that this game will support a multiplayer option, although it is unclear yet how this will play out.

This will not be the first "The Sims" game released for mobile devices. In 2011, Electronic Arts launched "The Sims Freeplay," which introduced real-time gameplay on the gaming series, for iOS and Android. It also developed "The Sims Social," which is playable on Facebook, although it closed down the game two years after its debut. A version of "The Sims 3" was also released for Android. The description of "The Sims Mobile" says that the game will allow players to make customizations in "more detail than ever before on mobile."

The game will be available for both Android and iOS devices. It is currently on its soft launch for the former. No date has been given on when it will be officially rolled out.
