'The Originals' season 3: The Trinity to stop Mikaelson prophecy from happening

The Mikaelsons' first sired vampires will continue on their quest to lock up their "parents" for good and stop the prophecy from happening in the second half of the hit The CW series "The Originals."

During the midseason finale, viewers witnessed The Trinity doing its best to make sure that Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt) stay alive for eternity, but imprisoned in a place where they could not do harm. The prophecy has revealed that the entire Mikaelsons will fall one by friend, one by foe, and one by family. If the Original siblings end up dying, all of the vampires that they have created will also die with them.

Lucien Castle (Andrew Lees) and Tristan de Martel (Oliver Ackland) have already put their plans in motion to prevent that from happening. The latter started to target new regent Vincent Griffith (Yusuf Gatewood) of the New Orleans witch community. He will be The Trinity's instrument to activate the device that can restrain the powerful family. If they succeed in making Vincent do their bidding, Klaus and his siblings have no way of getting out of trap.

Of course, there is still Aurora (Rebecca Breeds), Tristan's vindictive sister, who should be hiding now that she killed Klaus' love interest, Cami O'Connell (Leah Pipes). Klaus woke up with Cami dead beside him. Her throat was slashed and she bled to death. Aurora has played her final card in making sure Klaus would never get the happily-ever-after she has been robbed off in the past. Teasers show that Klaus is out to get revenge for what happened.

While the Mikaelsons are busy fielding their sired children, a new threat will emerge to make their lives even more chaotic. TV Line reports that someone from the past will hunt down the Originals. The vampire, whose name is Cortez, is reportedly "callous, smart and manipulative with little regard for human life." He is set to cause trouble in the second half of the installment.

"The Originals" season 3 will return on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
