Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) will take a trip to New Orleans in the second half of season 3 of the hit The CW series "The Originals."
TV Line reports that there will be a crossover between the two vampire shows produced by Julie Plec. The CW President Mark Pedowitz announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena in California that it would happen this year, but not of the size and scope they did with "Arrow" and "The Flash." He shared that the crossover would have to make sense story-wise.
Stefan will reportedly seek a place to reflect without the danger of getting influenced by magic. A certain sanatorium in the city offers this refuge. When the vampire arrives in New Orleans, he will inevitably come face-to-face with Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan), as nothing much escapes the latter's attention. Plec called the meeting "reunion of the Bourbon buddies."
"Stefan finds himself very much in need of a mystical safe haven. And as we've seen on 'The Originals,' there is a bar called The St. James Infirmary, in which no magic can permeate," she said.
While Stephan is there, he will take time to help Klaus "clear up some business." Plec said that the predicament the Original is facing has a direct impact on Stefan as well, which makes their team-up all the more needed. When asked if pregnant Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) would be going with Stefan, she hinted no, but that there would be a lot of drama involved in the crossover.
Meanwhile, Klaus is going to have his hands full dealing with a vengeful vampire in season 3B. Entertainment Weekly reports that Cortez (Matt Cedeño), "a callous, smart, and manipulative" progeny will be arriving to make life difficult for the Originals. Currently, the Mikaelson siblings have been busy keeping the Trinity at bay. Cami O'Connell (Leah Pipes), Klaus' ladylove, was one of the causalities in their fierce battle during the midseason finale. What major role will Cortez play in this war?
"The Originals" season 3 will return on Friday, Jan. 29, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW Network.
