The next episode for Fox TV's post-apocalyptic comedy series "The Last Man on Earth" will see Carol lie about Phil's death, particularly with the crew members of Tucson.

In last week's episode 2 titled "The Boo," Phil, played by Will Forte, and Kristen Schaal's Carol were finally back in each other's arms after getting separated in the pilot episode. Phil and Carol then went on find their group in – of all places – Malibu . Phil discovered the note was written only for Carol – the crew told her that thy have shifted their base to Malibu and that they want her to join them, sans Phil.

The upcoming episode will see Carol get caught in a little lie – apparently, she told the crew that Phil was already dead, based on glimpses on the preview for next Sunday's episode.

In Malibu, they find the old gang – Erica, Gail, Melissa, New Phil, and Todd – gathered together with a mysterious character named Gordon (played by none other than Will Ferrell). The two must have sensed tension in the air, as Carol tried to surprise the group. However, the plan backfires – Gordon succumbs instantly to heart attack.

Meanwhile, speaking to Entertainment Weekly about Will Ferrell's quick cameo, show creator and lead star Will Forte only had praises for the star: "We said, 'We will have you in and out. We promise it will be the quickest thing.' And, of course, we didn't live up to the promise, and it took much longer than we thought. He's just the nicest person in the world, so he just kept having to fall in the sand over and over again. There was sand all over the place. And every time he fell in the sand, I felt such guilt, like, 'Oh my God. Please forgive me.'"

"The Last Man on Earth" season 2 episode 3 will air on Sunday, Oct. 11 on Fox.
