Sheldon (Jim Parsons) will get a surprise visit from his childhood hero in the upcoming episode of the hit CBS series "The Big Bang Theory."

In "The Earworm Reverberation," Cartermatt reports that the physicist will get some much needed life advice from Arthur Jeffries aka Professor Proton (Bob Newhart). Avid fans of the CBS comedy series know that Proton is already dead. The website posits that for the episode, he will be appearing as a sort of ghost/conscience combo. Sheldon has some difficult decisions to make after Amy's (Mayim Bialik) admission that she wanted to be his girlfriend again. Will the talk with the good professor have anything to do with this?

Last episode, Sheldon acquired a couple of tickets to a Thanksgiving banquet at the aquarium's cafeteria. His friends, however, were otherwise engaged and could not accompany him. Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) were celebrating their first Thanksgiving together after getting married. Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Raj (Kunal Nayyar), Emily (Laura Spencer) and Howard (Simon Helberg), on the other hand, were busy helping out at a soup kitchen.

Out of a whim, he offered to take Amy with him, as friends. Surprisingly, she accepted. As expected, they had a great time together, as they bond over Cheetos and a list of safe topics Sheldon prepared to keep things platonic between them. When Sheldon got home, he received a call from Amy. She confessed that she wanted them to get back together. Viewers would think Sheldon would be over the moon with her declaration, after he spent the entire season wooing her. Unfortunately, he said he just wanted to be friends.

"Shamy" shippers should not be sad about this turn of events, however, as the series' producers have already made known that at the end of the year, Sheldon and Amy will finally take the plunge and consummate their chaste relationship. Exactly how they are going to accomplish this, however, remains a mystery.

"The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
