Tesla Model X release, specs news: Vehicle gets official EPA numbers

Outside of the already-confirmed launch this week, there are other signs that point to the first fully electric SUV from Tesla's upcoming roll out.

According to clean energy industry observer Clean Technica, although the Tesla Model X has yet to roll out on California streets, the California Air Resource Board has already added the Model X to the list of cars that can use the high-occupancy vehicles lanes in the state. Meanwhile, Tesla has also reportedly already provided sufficient documents for its application for the $2,500 California ZEV rebate, and the application is already on its way to being approved.

Aside from the reports about the Tesla Model X gaining California Air Resource Board approval, another sign that the new vehicle will be rolling out soon is that its EPA specs have been released on the US website.

According to industry observer EVObsession, the US EPA website has already listed the Tesla Model X's specs details, particularly its fuel economy numbers, range, and dimension space.

According to the screenshots taken from the website, the Tesla Model X will have two versions, the 90D Xand the P90D X. In terms of fuel economy, the 90D is much higher than the other version, having a 92 combined city/highway EPA MPGe, with 257 miles of total range. In terms of fuel savings in a span of five years against newer, gasoline-type vehicles, the 90D Model X also brings a savings of up to $4,000.

For other specs details, both the 90D X and the P90D X are all-wheel drive, standard Model X automatic SUVs. Passenger volume space for both versions is the same at 94 cubic feet, as well as the cargo and luggage space at 26 cubic feet. In addition, both versions have the same 90-kWh battery packs that can be fully charged in 12 hours for a standard 240-V charger, or faster 4.75-hour charging for the 80-amp dual charger.
