Android 6.0 Marshmallow release update: T-Mobile reveals devices getting new Google OS

It will only be a matter of time before Android 6.0 Marshmallow is able to reach various customers running on Android, although the first ones are bound to be those under the Google wing.

With that in mind, of course, the first ones are probably the Google Nexus series, while the other brands would depend on the carriers. For now, T-Mobile seems to be releasing Android Marshmallow soon, revealing a list mostly consisting of flagship phones.

The full list of T-Mobile devices set to receive the Android Marshmallow push was revealed via Talk Android. Among the phones in the list include the HTC One M8 and M9, LG G3 and G4, Nexus 5 and 6, and the Samsung Galaxy line like the Galaxy Note 4 and S6 Edge +.

The full list can be found here.

There are, of course, glaring models such as Sony missing on the list, but an update for the unlisted device should be out soon as well. It just so happens that these are the fortunate models set to receive the update, and an Android Marshmallow update should be announced soon for the other models.

The bad news is that for subscribers who own a lower-end or entry-level handset, there is a chance that those devices may not be getting Android 6.0 push.

T-Mobile will follow the three-stage process as far as updating the Android operating system of devices.

This means that the process will include the "Manufacturer Development" where the carrier and the OEMs sign up to roll out the new firmware. This will be followed by "T-Mobile Testing" where the evaluation happens, and finally, the status will be moved to "Completed," which means that it's ready for roll out.

It remains to be seen if other carriers like Sprint or AT&T will follow the lead of T-Mobile. Until an announcement is made, however, it seems subscribers on other carriers will just have to wait.
